[051 SPOKEN ENGLISH CORPUS TEXT M07] [Travel Roundup] [Speaker: male] [Broadcast notes: Radio 4, 8.55 a.m., January 25th, 1987] Five to nine now, and here's this morning's travel roundup. Weekend engineering work will cause problems for both road and rail travellers today. I'm afraid delays can be expected on the M8 in Glasgow where there are lane closures in both directions between Kingston Bridge and Charing Cross tunnels. At junction 10, the on ramp is closed from Barty Beeth road, together with two westbound lanes on the motorway itself. At Manchester, work on the M62 has closed the nearside lane and hard shoulder of both carriageways at junction 17 towards Prestwich, and there are also eastbound lane closures on the M56 leading from Cheshire, between junction 3 and 4 at Altrincham. Near Worcester, both carriageways of the M5 are still closed following overnight work between junctions 5 and 6 and diversions are along the A38 until 10 this morning. On the railways, engineering work is widespread with buses operating instead of trains on some routes. Eastern region trains will be delayed on the London King's Cross to Peterborough line, as will western region services on the Paddington to Exeter route. I hope you get there in the end.
