it was good mm but but you got to be careful though see after you have that fun one then you can let them do their own one because from there you got to pick your top four because when <.>we really we're aiming we've got two aims ONE enjoyment <,> you know at something like problem solving and TWO we got to take top kids from our school to this competition and win it <&>16:00 <,> so <{><[>there's two we've got two <[>yeah i know the kids two tiered <{><[>structure <[>yes <{><[>so that's the way <[>cos we done er we've done quite well in these <{><[>competitions just over the last three or four years yeah <[>well let's take the winning one now yeah <{><[>let's take the winning <[>i agree yeah see a couple of years ago we nearly won it we we <{1><[1>just took kid the team that they they picked their own team it was the top team <{2><[2>top class team and we nearly won <{3><[3>the thing <[1>yeah <[2>yeah <[3>yeah you'll find they'll do it <{><[>they'll do it themselves <[>we came yeah we came second and fourth about the year i took them over yeah but again we had one of the brightest kids was in the the second team <{1><[1>if they were all <{2><[2>in the top four we probably would have won it <{3><[3>well we might have <[1>word <[2>yeah yeah <[3>yeah well see that's why we build this we say to the kids well you know what this is really now come on we want the top one for our class now you know you sort of make <{1><[1>them feel as though they're <{2><[2>doing it <{3><[3>but really you are <[1>mm <[2>yeah <[3>yeah okay and when when would you like to run the <{><[>school ones <[>i'd like to start them probably next week yeah and school ones? the school <{><[>ones <[>NO <{1><[1>no no get our class ones done say <{2><[2>next week <,> and then there's only three more days the following week <[1>oh <[2>yeah but everyone's had a turn in the class yeah yeah so after that after easter? yeah <{><[>so it'd be a good thing for our programmes next week <[>so there's about three days afterwards as well yeah after that that week <&>17:00 so that's TWO full weeks <{><[>before we finish before the holiday <[>two no yeah we're got the two bitsy weeks <,> <{1><[1>taken but next one <{2><[2>after the bitsy one <[1>yeah <[2>the first full week yes yeah what about um just not changing the subject but what about having a we could have we could have a competition for a for a poster or something at some stage at the end of the term <,,> yeah mm <{><[>no middle term <[>you can come and work in my room middle term in word my my poster work's shocking <.>i <.>i i'm hopeless yeah that's you but the kids can probably enthuse <{><[>themselves more than you <[>no they don't no they go i never ever come up with any posters in my class i've yet after <{1><[1>six years of doing posters to manage <{2><[2>to <[1>word <[2>well <.>l <.>s <.>s suggest it to mack clears throat well let this one <{1><[1>float and perhaps <.>i if we get this off the ground and <{2><[2>word <[1>mack <[2>well whoever we get from here they'd have to design their own hats anyway yeah <{><[>that's right <[>well it's <{><[>er <[>oh that's right <{><[>yeah that's right <[>that's it they didn't have hats last <{><[>year did they <[>yeah been there done that <{><[>laughs <[>word <{><[>word <[>that's right they did too hey we won the hats <{><[>weren't that there we won the hat <.>com both competitions <[>yeah we did yeah yeah we <{><[>did <[>you only made them out of paper didn't you <{><[>last <,> the year before last <[>word won and they won the hats and they won the hats in both competitions and they won in the fourth form oh <{><[>it it works if you can get them built <[>in that year <&>18:00 but where that <{1><[1>year i took them out of class for the whole friday afternoon <{2><[2>and they made hats <{3><[3>word laughs <[1>up <[2>so? <[3>i did that with mine went to word too yeah <{><[>but <[>that's right you had mess all over your room didn't you i remember <{><[>that now <[>yeah they made brilliant hats those black <{><[>ones yeah <[>we yeah well why not? okay well <,> okay if you get that sorted that's fantastic <,> now um tut i'll do that part but you can take them to the competition <&>name of intermediate laughs liaison with <&>name running of competitions for them now that's the other thing i thought i thought we could perhaps go down and do one of these things for them down there <{><[>with their classes <[>oh so that was your idea not their idea no my idea <{><[>yeah cos i don't think they do that i don't think they do those competitions down there but i asked shona and and i don't mind organising that <[>oh tell shona to come up when one of these <.>it like when the one's running in my room oh that's a <.>good <{><[>good point yeah <[>what's it called yeah <{><[>word <[>cos <.>i she'll be comfortable in my room she <{><[>knows me <[>word it's not really <{><[>it's a maths competition <[>yeah we could get her up when the school one's being run the main main <.>t class ones <{><[>eh? i suppose <[>mm probably <.>l need to see a class one <{1><[1>that's not <{2><[2>too big to see <[1>it's easier class <[2>she <{><[>one word <&>19:00 <[>she probably should see one <.>h at happening in the class yeah i really <{1><[1>word class cos it's one of those first <{2><[2>word <[1>rather than in the school cos you're <.>sh <[2>you're showing her the final product before <{><[>she actually <[>yeah you're showing her yes it's you're showing just an ordinary class one yeah how you can mix all the the kids cos i've actually found those those problem solving things <{1><[1>you know a couple and even <{2><[2>the slow kids love it <{3><[3>cos they can actually make an input into it <[1>oh the kids love it neat <[2>yeah <[3>yeah yeah or they feel they're making an input cos there's only four of them in the yeah <{><[>team <[>and they're all excited about <.>getting and sometimes the slow kids come up with the right angle anyway <{1><[1>they see it so simply <{2><[2>that they actually <[1>yeah sure yeah <[2>and some of them are lateral rather than <{1><[1>logical thinkers and sometimes they <{2><[2>will just sort of you know <[1>yeah <[2>first full week okay well i i'll i'll i'll invite <{><[>shona up to <[>and tell tell shona next week <.>wh when when we know that's happening in my class when margaret and i <{1><[1>have worked something out <{2><[2>she can come and have a look <{3><[3>at maybe the second one the one i'll run <{4><[4>after margaret's shown me <{5><[5>or done one with me <[1>yeah <[2>yeah <[3>just <[4>okay <[5>all right then how are you gonna get out of your class to go into roger's?
