but i've actually done remarkably well today because usually i've sort <.>of by eleven oclock if i've um <,,> had a night on the <,> town <.>or i mean jean and i just get carried away i mean you know <.>if voc er just face it i mean she said when we GOT there <.>that er when i GOT to her place she was going to <,> go all out because she's got a new job tut did i tell you oh no you didn't tell me that preparing limited is that the name of the company that's the name of the country they're based in lower hutt they do a lot of um training for government departments they do training for maf mm so she has to travel out there <{><[>does she <[>um well no she'll be travelling all around the show oh <{><[>god word <[>but they will be based out there <,,> <{><[><.>so <[>is there any of those paper towels left <&>2:00 yeah i just bundled them up <,> tut as best i could tut and so it was a WEE bit of a celebration and as i said i hadn't been round there <,> um <,> while all the furniture was there and did she cook last night did you <{><[>stay in <.>sh <[>yes she cooked voc oh right yep she was boiling up a storm <.>b by the time i got there at six oclock cos i was DRENCHED cos you know what happened last night don't you oh it WAS raining yeah six oclock down it came yeah so we had fresh pasta with mussels tut with <.>maf yeah maf okayed mussels yeah green lipped i'm sure green lipped well voc it was rather ironic cos i don't know whether you saw the front of the dominion this morning but <{><[>yeah <[>the um the <,> james <.>cook now gina organised this talk about <,> strange <,> tut <{><[><.>the <&>3:00 <[>james cook yeah the fishing industry training board and the fishing industry board that <.>side you know the industry side have <.>organised organised this dinner months ago gina was organising it it was one of the first things she did yeah to celebrate the <,> algal bloom problem being over laughs but it happened to coincide with japan opening up its market again <,> so i mean <.>it it stole the front page of the dominion this morning yeah it sounds gripping news all right oh yes just because you won't eat them laughs well actually it's quite fun to say that you've eaten mussels and everybody goes <&>drawls oh you're brave really but they're nice <.>not not marinated ones real ones you know <{1><[1>when i got there yeah jean was cooking them up and <{2><[2>you know <[1>steamed steamed yeah <[2>yeah yeah i know she chopped them up she <.>just they were BIG <.>ones she just cut them <.>into into thirds i <&>4:00 think twelve of them into thirds fresh pasta and a <.>tomato she had <.>whole a can of whole tomatoes which she pulverised <.>with <.>with <.>with <.>with <.>with <.>with <.>with with THINGS like <{><[>herbs <[>laughs yeah <{><[>laughs <[>and things like that um so she cooked the pasta she did that with the <,,> tomato and stuff <,> and the mussels and then she just <,,> stirred them up all together <{1><[1>and put them in the oven to warm through <{2><[2>not get hot warm through <[1>mm <[2>oh yeah she <.>sprinkled there was cheese in it so it would be like a <.>k pretty dry tomatoey sauce no no no a very WET oh right very wet oh okay sniffs i mean that's the only way i like pasta it's the only way i like rice i mean i cook rice now and <{><[>did she <.>st <[>but i do it oh yeah <{><[>did she stir <.>the <[>in a risottoey type thing no she didn't stir it she didn't <.>stir did she have the mussels and <&>5:00 the sauce and the pasta ALL <{><[>stirred together <[>ALL stirred together yeah and then she put it in the oven yeah now when <.>she when i saw her putting it in the oven i thought it was going to come out sort of like a lasagne type thing <,> <{><[>but it didn't it was just to warm through <[>no yeah she said if it had <.>got it <.>s wasn't actually as warm as she thought it was going to be <{><[>because she's not used to her new oven yet <[>yeah tut oh yes well her other one was FIERCE god put a muffin in to heat <.>it <{><[>i <.>wouldn't the <.>muff the <.>muff er <.>my <.>my er the oven at dufferin street must be really hopeless <[>laughs oh it probably is oh it is but it <.>r i mean it was BRAND NEW six years ago when i moved in yeah but sometimes that <.>j jets is it gas isn't it no it's <{><[>electric <[>oh oh okay <,> oh <{><[>well mm <[>as is hers i don't know but anyway it was really nice yeah and she just did greek salad with olives and fetta <{><[>and word <[>oh just the same as we're having tonight <{><[>why didn't you say <[>well um yes i know but <.>HER her olives weren't um tut <{><[><.>c <[>calaman no because jared had eaten all of them didn't <&>6:00 he jared put on HALF A STONE while he stayed with her <,> no wonder i've put on what i've put on <,,> tut this year mm tut well <.>it surely it's not up <.>to it's not jean's cooking that's made you put on weight no it isn't it's <.>a it's <.>a it's actually the fact that <.>i'm i'm having a decent meal <{><[>each night myself <[>mm mm i've done all the butcher's sausages now laughs mm <{><[>the <.>italian <[>you've done all the butcher's sausages the italian ones the ones with chili in them the ones with coriander in the ones starting with b that i can't pronounce <,,> BORSCHT no no no <{><[><.>that's that's the beetroot thing isn't it <[>well close no borscht is beetroot yeah what is it then oh i don't know something wurst <,,> <{><[>ends in w <[>brachwurst no <{><[>b or w <[>no no b but wurst w r <,> w u r t at the end of it boyerwurst <{><[>or something <[>oh my word <&>7:00 but i've done all of them now oh well mm you'll have to go on to cheerios laughs oh yuk laughs <{><[>chippolatas <.>is <.>just just the pork ones <[>laughs frankfurters <{><[>from woolworths <[>frankfurters it was daggy on um when was it <,,> <.>monday either tuesday or wednesday night cos tut you know julie hasn't been been at work she's been sick right right well i rang <.>her i rang her on the weekend and i actually thought she was going to be at work on monday perhaps but she wasn't she didn't turn up until yesterday um so i rang her <.>on tut i think i rang her on tuesday night well anyway i rang her da da da da talk talk talk meanwhile my sausage is coming up to time i didn't think i was going to speak <&>pronounced as speat so long you time your sausages i sign my <.>s i time my sausages okay tut i time all my cooking you know the rice was just about ready etcetera da da da da da i'll make a QUICK CALL <&>8:00 a <{><[>quick call <&>snores calls are never quick so anyway right get it over and done with okay the sausage is about five minutes longer a bit dryer than it need be hey but wow look at the fat about a tablespoon have poured out of it by that time terrific <[>laughs yeah how do you do them grill them what NO i bake them slowly oh yeah that's what the guy said to do cos they're real ones <{><[>they've got no you know anyway she rings back michael's come home we need a peanut sauce recipe so i thought we could ring you ring this michael instead of that michael <[>oh yeah whatever yeah oh yeah you know michael's the guy out from australia tut ANYWAY do you think i could find a <.>t a <.>p peanut sauce recipe julia child's the way to cook didn't have a peanut sauce recipe <.>you why didn't you just make it up you must know how to make things up <{><[>like that <[>well i did sort of but then tut i went to alison holst tut and you know <{1><[1>what in volume seven of alison holst <{2><[2>you had to use volume ten because because that's got the index there's a recipe <&>9:00 for TWO peanut sauces so i rang her back <,> meanwhile i haven't eaten my sausage yet and we're getting over half an hour here so anyway i rang her back and gave it to her over the <{3><[3>phone well thank goodness she didn't ring straight back after <.>she about an hour later <[1>good old alison <[2>word <[3>laughs mm she rang back and said how GOOD it was <,> so that was four phone calls <{><[>word <[>so she had the peanuts sitting there but she didn't know how to turn them into a sauce no <{><[>she had peanut butter <[>oh peanut butter oh right <{><[>that'd be right <[>you see that was the biggest issue cos i went to <.>my my real authentic thai cookbook which would have you making the <{1><[1>peanut sauce out of <{2><[2>peanuts <,> and roasting them and doing other interesting things like that <&>referring to cat is this blackie or what <[1>voc <,> yeah <[2>pulverised yeah yeah yeah <,> yeah yeah yeah yes it's blackie <,> <{><[>just be careful <[>you've never done that to me before oh no she'll do it <,> just watch her neck she's um got some scratches she's been in a fight and she's not you know she's got scabs and things on her neck from <.>the from the scratches <&>10:00 well jean's cat a lot happier that's nice mm anyway why is jean tut worried about me tut because you were SICK sick? on monday morning you
