waikato think it's basically east coast waikato <.>that that are in this kohanga he goes to it's <.>good good variety mm <,> <{1><[1>does he live locally as well or does he live up north <{2><[2>word <[1>mm <[2>he lives about three houses down <.>from from the kohanga <{><[>cannons creek <[>right OH <{><[>right mm <[>school yeah so he lives there oh that's handy then it means he can <{><[>get to goodness oh so yeah they'll all have time to get their families going mm mm so i hope that <.>de she's lucky she's got lots i want LOTS tut laughs bit hard to do though when you've only got one son and a daughter who's certainly not interested laughs mm mm my mum would have sympathy with you there <{><[>laughs she's only got us two tut and <[>laughs oh you and your brother mm oh mm tut she hasn't put pressure on me yet though thank <&>9:00 goodness laughs tut how old's your brother he's a year younger than i am yeah <.>he's oh gosh that would make him thirty <,> two i think <{><[>mm <[>is he not married mm he's been overseas and everything so yeah oh good on him <,,> that's what my daughter wants to do is go <.>oversea she's going to um hawaii <,> in march i think it is <,,><&>3 mm <,,><&>3 mm mm she's been to australia she's been around there <,> she's been to the states when she was about <.>sh she's twenty now when she was about thirteen <,,><&>3 mm <,,><&>5 and have you <.>been been out of the country at all <&>10:00 oh no voc i'd rather see my own first than anything else so where have you been in new zealand then i've done the whole of the north island voc i've only been to christchurch <,,> mm so why don't you tell me about where you've been and <.>ever <{><[>laughs yeah that's the one <[>laughs well i <.>don't overseas <.>don't doesn't appeal to me as far as <,> thing goes <,> yeah i <.>only then i only went to christchurch to um inhales watch my daughter play softball mm <,,><&>3 so where have you been in the north island then you been right to the top or cape reinga and that sort of thing yes my husband's from up there tut <{><[>oh mm <[>mm so that's why i've been able to go up that far voc it looks really different doesn't it i mean all <.>the the plants and everything even change don't they <&>11:00 yeah <.>i it's totally different from um <,,><&>3 think from whangarei right through it starts to differ <,,><&>3 hokianga <,> where else <,> been round the east coast been to mount maunganui up down round there tikitiki opotiki gisborne mahia right round mm taranaki new plymouth up the west coast oh did you actually get to go up the mountain tut um no <{><[>no we were just passing <[>tut mm mm seeing it's a shame you get some lovely views from up there they say it's beautiful mm <,> so you been to rotorua as well mm sniffs yes lots of times there <&>12:00 did you go to the pools you know <.>the the hot pools <{><[>there tut have a soak laughs <[>mm laughs stayed there quite a few times on the marae oh right mm do <.>they do the local maori people actually own any of the areas where <.>the the hot pools are or you know <{><[>do they have their own little private ones laughs <[>oh word laughs i don't think so <{><[>that <.>g the local tribal areas i think that inhales <,> they'd all share amongst themselves <[>oh oh right i mean as long as the marae's there yeah that's true then the people will have access so i'd say that yeah they must have laid claim to to a bit <.>of well a majority of them pools mm doesn't take you long to get <.>t <.>sm used to the smell no no that's <{><[>right <[>but it's horrible when you're trying to adjust <,> eh oh <&>13:00 and then voc you just don't notice it after a while it's just adjusting that initial first time eh yeah mm i can remember the first time i went it was absolutely wonderful and <.>i i think the second time i went years later it wasn't as good i think cos the waters were going down at that point you know mm cos everyone was using the water too much for home heating and <{><[>so on mm <[>heating yeah <,> but i think they controlled that didn't they mm wasn't that because of the generators or <.>th <{><[>power <.>some <[>mm mm that's right voc yeah they've stopped the locals using it only the big one can use it now <{><[>and cos all the geysers were running out of steam laughs <[>mm yeah that's right <{><[>eh they were using it all <[>mm mm mm <,,><&>3 mm <,> tut so let's see where <&>14:00 have you been on the other side <,,><&>3 i know have you been to taupo yeah <,,> um <,,><&>3 not to stay just go through it mm that's quite expensive place to stay isn't it yeah though i believe <{><[>that <[>no and it it IS expensive yeah just driving through it you can <{1><[1>just see it's an expensive place <{2><[2>yeah <[1>mm <[2>mm mm tut hotels and the motels that's around the um thing james said that's a place where you need to have money mm tut you ever been to turangawaewae yes that's my mother pa yeah mm oh neat voc so have you <.>st i've stayed there many occasions <&>15:00 oh right mm do you go <.>up do you go to all the important ones like i remember there was one recently wasn't there it was quite a big one tut well she has an annual one may twenty third <.>sh that's the coronation day oh twenty third or twenty fifth <,> oh one of those two days inhales but since when we were kids it <.>w it was just it was a um it was <.>tradi traditional word but we used to have to go all the time mm but like i said now that we've moved from home mm there are those traditional things mm you <{><[>tend to leave behind <[>mm mm mm yeah <.>th <.>th they're your your they're WITH you <{><[>perhaps as i get older <[>yeah yeah <&>16:00 then i start turning back towards yeah towards that <{><[>but <[>these traditional ties or something mm but at the moment i'm <,,> quite settled here i guess yeah mm you <.>sh you said your husband was from kaitaia <.>i was it or up cape reinga top of the north top of the <{><[>north <[>yeah <.>he he's um <,,><&>3 he was born up there but his father moved a lot oh right cos he was in do you know farmers um trading corp yeah remember them yeah yeah well his father was um manager and he'd be oh stationed you know he'd get oh that's sent different places yeah <&>17:00 but unlike me he didn't really have a you know a settling home oh right is it <{><[>in word <[><.>an <.>in an established family home <{><[>cos his parents have moved all the time <[>yeah yeah same as here like in word <{><[>laughs <[>laughs so <.>she his mother's finally settling and <.>the his dad retired and they retired to keri keri oh right lovely orchards yeah so they're retired there mm <,> inhales time okay haven't <.>got <.>abo what time did you get back er <,> ten past what's the time now word
