mm <,> so it's quite good are you friendly with her or well you know laughs bit of wheeling and dealing she gets she gets one um before she starts work like <{1><[1>eat it cos they don't get any breaks <{2><[2>word so she'll work say she'll start at five and she'll work through till um <,> tut about ten or eleven so no breaks but they get instead of that they get a meal when they start <{3><[3>and they get to take away a meal at the end of the night <[1>yep <[2>what they work straight through? <[3>right oh that's good then eh and like if i go there i usually get a big discount eh so <{><[>i stopped i stopped eating there cos it's embarrassing <[>yeah yeah <{><[>yeah <[>you know but it's quite good quite a nice little restaurant too cos it's er not um fancy but er the food's really nice yep it's quite <{><[>good <[>whereabouts is it um you know where um <,> exhales where the espressoholic <&>pronounced as expressoholic is yep it's just next to that i think <&>4:00 oh right yeah on courtenay place so right up you know cos that new bar shooters is open next to molly malone's yep <{><[>yep is that a um is it actually a japanese restaurant or chinese <[>mm chinese chinese <{><[>right <[>yeah so it's quite good eh yeah i <.>like i like chinese japanese food it's <,> pretty much my favourite food really yeah i haven't had japanese food before haven't you oh it's <.>g it's good stuff i actually like it better you know than <{><[>sniffs like that and italian's my favourite <[>mm mm pasta <{><[>and stuff but <[>spaghetti yeah yeah i like spaghetti eh it's quite good mate <,> <{><[>but <[>so you are you've handed in your resignation so you're not back at <&>name of company at all now well no i'm coming in like i handed it in on monday and rachel was there yep so you saw that eh you saw i handed <{1><[1>it in word and they received it with some regret <{2><[2>laughs and she said and she says oh you're not gonna work on the night fills and i go oh no wally you know only said he'd give me three hours a week and she goes yeah i know which means what wally was telling me about the ten hours was all bullshit cos she goes yeah i know i've had the productivity through and everything i was only <{3><[3>on for three hours so <&>sips drink <&>5:00 hand it in to her and then i rung up wally on tuesday and says oh is that okay you know the dates i put down there and everything <,> for leaving and he said oh what's this i see on my desk what's this and i go well i'm leaving you know <[1>yep <[2>laughs <[3>oh yeah yeah yeah he says WHY i said well you can only offer me three hours a week it's hardly worth my while yep and he goes um what did he say he goes i could've given you anywhere up to ten laughs and i go oh well whatever no i think it's about time i resigned anyway cos i mean like a <&>letter i enjoy working with the people during the day <{><[>so at least i'd still see a bit of them but working on night fills i wouldn't plus all the people on night fills are arseholes <[>yeah tut are they yeah yeah i don't know anyone who works the <{><[>night fill there <[>no the guy who runs it's just a he's got no experience <{><[>i used to run <[>who's that guy don is it don no um derek oh <{><[>right <[>the new varsity student yep i mean like i used to run the bloody night fills you know <{><[>now it's not even worth it you know i mean they've just basically been saying oh your experience is worth nothing we just want you to <,> be the bum boy basically and like also i enjoy dealing with customers <[>mm yeah <&>6:00 but i can't do that anyway you know <{><[>word <[>typical of <&>name of company though isn't it you know no oh they don't cares really is you know it's just quite typical of them i think it's pretty bad that they don't really get behind people who want to <{><[>better themselves you know <[>what yeah exactly been in the company a few years and tut you want to go ahead and mm all they really do is force you out basically i know cos <{1><[1>you're earning too much money or something <{2><[2>stupid like that <[1>well <[2>yeah i mean i would've probably come back you know <{><[>if they'd treated me well i would've come back now there's no way <[>yeah tut you would've been a good one to have too because you're <,> having experience you know and going to varsity when your holidays come up your <{1><[1>holidays come and stuff you could've <.>qu quite <{2><[2>easily fixed them up yeah <[1>yeah <[2>you you can manage a department with somebody managed a department fish bar anything like <{><[>that <[>yep cos i mean i've done most of the most of the departments around the shops yeah like he doesn't really care obviously he doesn't like me oh it's his loss eh mm <,> i mean i'm not there when he says whatever he does behind my back i'm pretty sure he yeah he talks eh i haven't heard anything from him you know <{><[>but i mean like you say half the time you don't know what they're saying <[>no mm well i know that betty and biff'll be putting the knife in <&>7:00 yeah but <{><[>that's just them down to a t <[>so mm typical of them you know so it's not really fair but just have to live with it that's why i handed <{><[>in my resignation <,> tut i thought well bugger you <[>mm mm why should i have to put up with that i'm sure i can get a job in another supermarket oh easily um if i can't i'll um go to student job search and see if there's anything around there yeah plus um i got the student allowance and i got the bit of work in the hardware store oh <{><[>you're still gonna work in there are you <[>um mm every second saturday no every saturday and every second sunday oh right sundays might finish but um saturdays are pretty definite yep mm <,,> i don't know eh what so hardware you're just gonna finish there cos it's not doing enough on sundays or are they gonna close it down completely or no just sundays cos it's not doing enough but yeah at the moment it's going well oh good at the moment i mean he's doing anywhere between anywhere between say two sixty and four hundred you know which for a sunday is <{><[>good <[>it's good eh and i mean if you <{><[>didn't <&>8:00 <[>it's only four or five hours isn't it that's right <{><[>and if you didn't open you know <[>yeah you'd <.>be wouldn't be getting that at all <{><[>and they'd still be <.>c paying your rates and stuff <[>mm mm so you're better off opening and even if you're just covering your rates and that it still saves them a bit of bit of money in the bank that's right um the customers get used to you being open yeah so it's bad to chop and change yeah mm <,> so i reckon it's quite good eh <,> <{><[><.>i i've called in sick for the knee operation with wally but i'll work a couple of hours in the hardware store eh <[>mm yeah oh for sure why not i've used up quite a bit of my sick leave eh both laugh yeah i had fourteen days at the beginning of this no beginning of oh half way through last year i had about fourteen days yeah cos i never took sick days like wally actually called me into his office and he said before before i came you were a model employee <{1><[1>you know i felt like saying oh you prick <{2><[2>you don't get any thanks for not taking any sick leave you know <[1>yeah <[2>laughs yeah cos hey he's he's just <{><[>stuffed up <[>so how many days have you used up then <{><[>i reckon it must be a few <[>oh i've i've only got about three or four left i think oh <{><[>good <[>so for the operation i'll i'll get paid for most of it but there's about two days i won't get paid for <&>9:00 well good on you i mean when you leave or you're not gonna get any money back that's right <{><[>oh you know <[>well they should give you some money <{1><[1>because you've been a model employee there <{2><[2>but <[1>yeah <[2>oh that's right they don't i've got um a week's holiday owing to me as well as in accruing <{><[>so i'll get that when i leave i presume i'll get that <[>right you'd better make sure you get it and then that'll be or as it is this is <&>name of company colin i assume that'll be a couple of hundred bucks yep cos like my weekly salary's about three thirty so take <{><[>off all your tax it should be couple of hundred bucks left <[>mm that's good eh <{1><[1>get a little bonus in your hand <{2><[2>for <[1>yeah <[2>yeah for starting varsity that'll get me through a couple of weeks hopefully <{><[>yeah <[>have you got your books and stuff are <.>you apparently <{><[>quite a bit of money in books eh <[>no tut oh i don't even know what books i need cos i've changed my mind oh have you yeah i'm not gonna do um marketing any more cos the maths i couldn't get through the maths yep so what i'm gonna do is um hopefully do anthropology but on enrolment day i have to try and get in there and <{><[>see if i can <[>which what does that involve just um the study er human development and culture and stuff like that oh <{><[>right <[>should be quite cool what does it lead into though you know what <&>10:00 sort of jobs can you get well a lot of people reckon it is actually good with marketing cos learning about cultures being culturally aware of things and and people you know how people develop should be quite handy but <{><[>i mean i'm not too concerned at this i mean i'm shocking myself actually because i'm not concerned about <,> the <.>future i AM but i'm not ultra concerned about the future and that sort of thing i just want to go to varsity <,> get good grades <[>right yeah um you know work at something that that's gonna give me a degree and then cos it's <.>al also like um when you do a b a it's like a general purpose degree <{><[>it teaches you a few skills um teaches you sort of how to research and things like that so hopefully i mean with the skills that i've learnt from <&>name of company <[>oh yeah yep <&>name of company there isn't that much but it's enough you know yeah just get you <{><[>through sort of <[>and with a degree i <.>sh should be sweet for getting another job <{><[>but we'll see who knows <[>mm cos so many people um <,> waste their time going to varsity don't they mm you know they go to varsity i've voc got friends that have been to varsity and just spent three four years there and come out and they're labouring yeah cos they just can't get a job that's right i hope that in about three years <&>11:00 the economy'll be a bit better <{><[>and if it doesn't pick up i'll bugger off overseas i think <[>yeah well yeah take your qualifications overseas you're probably better off doing that nowadays yeah yeah what about you you're still gonna join the police force you reckon yeah well voc it's really on the cards that i'll <,> tut within the next year <{1><[1>you know i've been saying within the next year for the last two years <{2><[2>but really that's that's my aim <[1>mm <[2>yeah mm i like <&>name of company you know i like working there and we're on a good salary but basically like the people tut yeah <{><[>yeah <[>would your salary increase with being a cop or would it decrease about round <{><[>the same yeah <[>decrease a little bit you know <{><[>yeah decrease a little bit i think i'm not sure what the police start on some people say they start on about thirty three thirty five <[>mm i think so eh might even have gone up to thirty <{><[>seven if um with i think it rises with inflation <[>yeah yep so i mean you get rises every year so i mean at the end of the day you'd have to stay i remember someone saying to me they're either three or five years before you can actually get a promotion oh <{><[>really <[>think it might be three might be three cos what you do is you go you go for your six months' training yep and then you're on a year's trial clears throat so basically keeping an eye on your <&>12:00 performance and everything <,> and then another three years after that maybe or another two years after that before you can actually get called for a promotion right you can get transferred but you can't get promoted until you've been in the force a while yeah well see i <,> i mean the physical side of it is doesn't bother me at all but it's <{1><[1>the er written stuff you know i've <{2><[2>never been the the brightest person round so you know probably the only reason i'm holding off is because of the written side of it <[1>mm <[2>yeah mm <{><[>okay <[>yeah not that confident that i'll go in and pass that you know yeah mm <{><[>is there anything you can do to have a look at what they do <[>so well i mean i know so many policemen and and that and i've asked them and they i don't know whether it's a thing that they've got to be hush hush on or not but you know i'm quite close friends with a lot of cops and they just don't really let too much out of the bag yeah you can ask so many questions but you know i i know the guy that um sort of like enrols you for the for the course you know for the six months yep for the intake you know and then HE even doesn't let on word <{><[>force i suppose they can't eh yeah <[>what's what what it entails so i don't know whether they whether when you go <&>13:00 through you're told look once you come out of this you don't you're not to mention exactly what you do or yeah but i did i did get told it's a lot of paperwork <&>13:07
