you been up to over the holidays and stuff oh i <.>went um the first week was sort of getting my stats project under way and then i went away skiing you've done it oh not quite no <.>i'm i'm sort <.>of i'll <.>b have it finished by um i'd say tomorrow or <{><[>the day after that yeah <[>oh really that's pretty good yeah and um <,> tut oh i went skiing skiing for <.>about i was away up <.>at at taupo at <.>my um at waititoko you know where i saw you last year oh right <{><[>yeah <[>yeah we got access to that and i was up there for about a week and a half and we only skied about oh no just over a week no we were there for just over a week <{1><[1>and i skied about three days <{2><[2>but i had my mountain bike with me so <{3><[3>i did a bit <&>27:00 of that yeah so that was good <{4><[4>but <.>they <[1>voc <[2>is that right <[3>oh that's all right yeah <[4>yeah people were saying the weather was <.>pretty tut oh <.>what it hasn't really <.>been that's a real pity sam there was SO much snow up there man <{1><[1>it was like this aMAZing amounts of snow eh <.>and <{2><[2>and there's <.>just the weather's just been not so hot you know <[1>yeah that's what they were saying they were saying <.>it's <[2>voc yeah but um hey you know have you been up yet no yeah well i'll tell you what the big <{><[>addiction you know the national um downhill <[>itching to go eh yeah you know where <.>the you go up in the chairlift uh huh and there's that BIG gut there that was there last year that big gut yeah and there's that jump at the bottom of it everyone was flying off <{><[>there yeah that is all filled in with snow <[>i'm with you yeah awesome serious that is just <.>about it's got <{><[>nothing of the dip it was eh seriously <[>laughs so what is it <.>it's it's like skiing down south or something with <{><[><.>just <[>yeah yeah it's hardly any guts and stuff i mean is that good or is <{><[>that laughs <,> surely it takes your variation out <[>well um <,> yeah they're just not they're just not quite so sharp though that's all yeah i mean i didn't like skiing down that gut there <&>28:00 anywhere but yeah and like you <.>can um i just thought it was a bit ridiculous all the pylons there and stuff but yeah it's there's so much snow that a lot of the guts are filled in but they're still good enough to do jumps off the edge of it and stuff excellent so they're quite good and it's so funny though eh cos <.>there's <.>there's there was quite a lot of fresh powder there when i was up there um or you know just sort of <,> being there for a couple of days <{1><[1>not many people skied on it and i went flying off this bank <{2><[2>you know got up to the edge of it and i thought oh yeah so i moved back a bit and went off it <[1>yeah <[2>uh huh yeah and i went down and you know when <.>you you powder you just lean back a bit more yeah yeah and this stuff <.>we it was just so deep it didn't matter <{1><[1>how far i leaned back i just BAILED and i just went flying down and like it was really funny eh cos <.>th these guys were standing at the top and they <{2><[2>came over and saw oh yeah i think this bit's here i think <.>th i've been down this before <[1>laughs <[2>laughs yeah i think this bit over here is um is fine and i went over it and there was just heaps of powder at the bottom and i just went flying over it and just <.>didn't you lean back <&>29:00 and sort of you know try and lean back a bit more <{1><[1>but you sort of your skis went in and you just bailed <{2><[2>out and get thrashed laughs it was really funny eh it was just classic <{3><[3>and these guys were laughing away and i thought it was bloody hilarious myself so i didn't really care <[1>yeah <[2>oh excellent <[3>yes er laughs you should consider scraping all <.>the yeah oh it was amazing eh yeah cos you <.>y you kind of you know you'd go i went over one edge of it before and it was fine and then i went over a different edge and before i knew it i was just like facing the snow eh it was <{><[>real deep fluffy stuff it was real nice <[>laughs excellent so there's plenty of snow there sam and it might stay you know <.>y if you go up for a couple of weekends go for it yeah they were <.>talking they were talking about skiing at the um golf course and stuff oh the golf course was covered man oh really the <.>go when i got up there um the golf course was covered and then towards the end of the week um er with a bit more rain and stuff <{><[><.>it it um went off but even one of the days i <.>l i think the day before i left they'd had fresh snow overnight yeah <[>yeah oh my god and there was like you <&>30:00 know voc people um digging their cars out <.>a you have to dig your car out of the carpark <{1><[1>and stuff you know um oh it's just unreal i've never seen so much snow up there <{2><[2>so i'd go for it man <{3><[3>there's still enough there to keep in good condition for ages <[1>laughs <[2>yeah <[3>word is that your lot for this year um yeah i'd imagine so <{><[>yeah i suppose it would be so i got in a few days you know that was okay for me <[>no that's cool yeah um but <.>i i don't think i'll get up till um next year yeah right and um i talked to er um tut i took nellie up with me my girlfriend and got her skiing so that was good <{><[>she word <[>what taught her or what what's that has she been <{><[>before <[>word um nah she hasn't eh oh that would've been a bit of a laugh yeah <{><[>oh she'd skied in that plastic stuff in auckland you know with the water on it <[>laughs oh right yeah so i think she got used to standing up and we went up to the top of the bruce to go skiing and there was <.>about you you could JUST see the bumper of the car about fifty metres away so we just took her on the side of the road and um we had her turning and <&>31:00 stopping in half an hour eh you know so that was good and she skied her first day um tut and she got off the rope tows and she was starting to get down some of the little basins and stuff yeah but it was like really funny because <.>she she was going oh i just CAN'T do and she <{><[>went down this hill and i was going <.>just just wedge wedge wedge to stop eh <[>laughs yeah and she's got like her legs were just too tired and she just sort of oh i can't i can't <{1><[1>and <.>just just let her skis go straight and she just went FLYING into this bank and just <{2><[2>you know just going oh i can't do it i can't do <{3><[3>it come on you can do it and then by the end when we got down in this nice little sedate valley <{4><[4>and she just goes i'm <.>just nah i'm just too tired eh and i said okay that's it cos i kept asking her are you tired no no i just can't do it <[1>laughs <[2>laughs <[3>laughs <[4>yeah yeah when someone says they're too tired you just got to let them stop <{1><[1>or they'll just you know actually kill themselves and so i take her skis off yeah put them on my shoulder and i ski down with her skis and she going you <&>32:00 BASTARD you poseur you <{2><[2>bastard laughs and she just came down on poles you know it was really funny <{3><[3>but she was going well eh yeah yeah <{4><[4>and um her brother um no her her sister's boyfriend um he's quite a good snowboarder eh he's actually had offers to up to um to teach <{5><[5>and stuff yeah <[1>nah they'll just kill themselves yeah i know <[2>laughs <[3>oh it would have been wicked <[4>is <.>it <[5>oh really <&>32:17 <&>end of side one <&>side two <&>0:10 basically he doesn't know the area yeah and he hasn't been out off road so i'm taking him out off road and he's going to sort of show me a bit about <.>mountain er about snowboarding yeah so i'll be able to do a bit of that next year hopefully you'd be pretty keen yeah i am actually eh it looks like wicked fun yeah he talked to these guys and they're going um oh yeah it's <.>just OH mate you know they're just going on and on yeah but oh yeah they <.>they it look like a just a something to <{1><[1>give it you know like to give <.>a have a go at and it looks like really good fun <{2><[2>so i have <[1>oh it's cruisey <[2>yeah did you meet anybody else up there oh yeah i saw about six or seven guys from school eh <{><[>yeah <[>you were just skiing the whakapapa side yeah yeah yeah i saw um i saw er oh steven <{><[>tamati um i didn't see trevor radford but apparently he was there <[>yeah <&>1:00 yeah um oh pat moore i knew he was up there <{1><[1>um er this guy sammy in the sixth form and a few of his mates hugh loherty <{2><[2>and a couple <.>o a couple of other sixth formers i know yeah so i saw quite a few people <[1>uh huh <[2>yeah right so i it's <{><[>quite good eh um <[>was it crowded <.>or people were saying the national downhill wasn't open <.>for <{><[>for some of it <[>oh yeah yeah yeah yeah um that would have <.>been i <.>skied <.>i it was beautiful on monday and then it was really crap for tuesday wednesday um i didn't bother skiing thursday it was about um <&>sighs what could you say um it was pretty bad down at the bottom it was clearing up <.>in on the top now and then but it was still only about <,> one hundred to two hundred and then in the afternoon it closed up uh huh but i was teaching nellie so it was okay yeah and then on friday it was um <,> it was clear down the bottom um and <.>it and that got real crowded so <&>2:00 i just went up the top and just nutted it out up there and you could only see <.>about in the afternoon you could only see about fifty METRES or something <{><[>or you know maybe twenty <[>laughs yeah but you <.>just i just did heaps of turns and um you know it was <.>an and there was enough people there for it to be safe you know it was not like <.>you if you crashed <{><[>no one was going to find you so yeah it was okay and um nah it was quite good and you know i took this snowboarder out and he was coming down and he just suddenly skied out on to the um t bar track you know he was like you could see about twenty metres sam <[>yeah if you're by if you're by yourself or anything yeah yeah and he was skiing along and then <.>he and he moved off and he goes carving along the snowboard track and just about wiped out about about five people <{1><[1>laughs he just managed to jump off a lip <{2><[2>and get out it was really funny eh <{3><[3>but yeah <[1>laughs shit <[2>laughs <[3>excellent <&>2:48
