kicking them yes um oh well um oh that's all right i'm still full of cold but never mind um what i wanted to say to you was um i dropped stuff into you at university yesterday yes <.>i i picked it up thank you VERY <{><[>much yeah <[>oh good okay i just wanted to make sure you got it and i left it in the right place and i had a bit of a fear you might have been um on holiday or something <{><[>you know <[>no no no no i was actually at a meeting most <{><[>of the morning and went up <[>yes yeah yeah right right i went to actually <.>ha harold gave a seminar which was quite interesting i SAW that he was doing that you went to the is it the stout research one is it yes yes actually GEORGE would've enjoyed that yes he should have gone i <.>did suppose he was too busy but um usually is yes it was QUITE interesting i didn't stay for the questions just the um um just the the talk that he gave <&>6:00 it was on um the jewish community in new zealand and how they saw their <.>e their sort of <.>ethnicis ethnicity right er and it <.>was it was yeah he's quite interesting <{><[>and he compared it with australia and the united states <[>mm oh yeah jewish communities in australia and the united states and yeah he's a oh <.>y you know he's pretty thorough yeah and er interesting talker yes he is yes he is oh yes he's <.>pretty you know <.>i <.>i he knows what he's doing yeah yeah yeah i <.>and and it's a piece of work that's of interest to me too you know right so um <{1><[1>george would have found it interesting especially george having lived in both er america <.>and and <{2><[2>new zealand <[1>yeah <[2>new zealand yes um <{><[><.>and <[>that's right mm yeah so um so i was THERE so i thought well <.>i'll i just after that it was in the anthropology house <,> at the uni right and so then i just popped round and brought <&>pronounced bought the stuff round to you oh right actually that <.>s was probably lunchtime i popped out a bit then too no it wasn't lunchtime <{><[>it was ten oclock <[>wasn't it oh well i was at the meeting yes yeah ten oclock yeah <{1><[1>no no so i went on into town and did some business and stuff <.>and SO it was quite handy for me really you know to <{2><[2>i didn't have to make a special trip or anything anyway i'm GLAD you GOT it <[1>which did go on <&>7:00 <[2>yeah yes yeah no how's your painting coming on we're just sitting here eating our what's it called it's george what's it <.>c this concoction called <&>george answers matzabrei oh that one you remember the famous <{><[>matzabrei that george makes <[>yes yes nearly burned my insides out yes he didn't put so much pepper in this time <{><[>quite nice <[>it <.>sounds sounds fair enough well actually i'm just thinking of making up myself <.>a a STEW of tomatoes and eggs and some perhaps some fried matzos word or laughs something there's nothing to eat though this week it's been terrible oh dear yeah and the weather's so awful <{><[>mm <[>yeah but er so i'm <.>di just enjoying doing nothing in particular oh well you've got to have a break well i HAVE been doing things <.>but you've got to have a break yes so i just went to <.>the doing my FILING and so on and i'll sort of do a bit of business and over the weekend i'll sort of pay some bills and catch up on some records and things but er right i'll have a quiet time too er yeah you know when are you going on monday <&>8:00 on monday <{><[>yeah <[>hope you get good weather yes i hope this all clears up by then well you might be <{><[>right actually cos there's a southerly coming through tomorrow <[><.>it's yes and by then you know you might just get the tail end of it and then perhaps after that might bring some nice weather <,> so it looks like easter's going to be AWFUL for people though it does rather yes <.>i i don't know how sarah and maria are going to get on <{><[>um <[>well it'll be awful down there but i mean maybe they won't do the walk or maybe they'll do it in the rain oh <.>they they probably will i can't imagine them <{><[>not doing something cos of the weather <[>yeah yeah yeah <{><[>yeah <[>yeah they'll probably do it it probably won't be that PLEASANT but er oh well you know i suppose it doesn't really matter no akaroa is all open isn't it <{><[>it's quite fortunate <[>yes it is <.>i i think it sounded more like <,> the westerly side and the mountains are going to be bad at the moment <{><[>and it may not be quite so bad out there on the east <[>yes yes although they said there was a southerly coming right up the south <{><[>island <[>yes that won't be too pleasant no that <{><[>will word <[>bit exposed but <.>ak akaroa's all sort of farm land isn't it mm <{><[>oh yeah and and bush <[>word oh there IS bush there <.>i <.>i it's MIXED apparently <{><[>yeah mm <[>is it oh well there'll be a bit of shelter up there in the bush i suppose but oh well anyway <{1><[1><.>be <&>9:00 it's good to get away for them anyway <{2><[2>yeah so um <[1>yeah <[2>yeah um oh this morning um <,> we heard <,> that arnold <.>reisen reisenbaum yeah did you hear him talking about the passover no no no oh i didn't hear that and the word just <.>th <.>wh <.>wh what it all meant oh yes oh that was nice did george go to the sada at the liberal yes he did <{><[>yes <[>yes YOU didn't go did you no <{><[>no no <[>no no no did he enjoy it yes he did very much <{><[>yes <[>yes oh we had one at home although sam got a bit irritable and said how long is this going to take <{><[>so we had to abbreviate it slightly <[>laughs wasn't the happy family occasion it might have been oh well it wasn't too bad well we er i'm a bit slow but we did the bit before dinner and then we had dinner but after that he got a bit irritable so we sang the hymns and that was about it right so er but er <.>b it's er been pretty good food this week anyway and yeah so you're painting this weekend yes <{><[>yes we've got the paint <[>oh oh well we're about to start scrubbing <{><[>the muck off the walls <[>oh fair enough you're going to get into it well <.>i simon rang last night so i'm going to go up there one day i hope <{1><[1>and word all right and go for a walk up there <{2><[2>and charlotte and david i can't remember which day i said i was going to go with <{3><[3>them though <[1>oh yes <&>10:00 <[2>right <[3>you said monday because charlotte asked me if i <.>w would like to come too oh good so i'll write that down cos god i'd forgotten try and go sunday with simon yeah charlotte's and david oh i'm glad i talked to you about that <{><[>monday er <[>yeah i thought <,> that looks like my thermos flask top both laugh it took me a while to twig of course it IS my thermos flask top oh well i had visions of you not being at work you know having taken an extra day off <{><[>the bloody thing's sitting there <[>oh no i couldn't do THAT i was just RUSHING around like crazy oh well <{><[>sure <[>all er er um in fact i had to bring some work <{><[>home with me <&>11:00 <[>oh gosh oh that's no good it looked pretty quiet up at the physics department though oh it always does it's <.>a yes it does amazingly quiet place well fair enough good department to be in well i suppose it is yes i'm most impressed by the <.>dis displays they have leading into the laby <&>pronounced labby building is it labby or is it laybie laybie laby <&>pronounced laybie building i was mostly impressed with the displays that physics have got yes they're quite fun aren't they <{><[>you quite often see <.>people <[>yeah yes fiddling round with them no that's good you know <{1><[1>it's good for visitors coming and going <{2><[2>and so on you sort of browse and have a look yeah yeah all right well you you have a very nice trip down the south island we'll talk to you
