  <WSC#DGU009:0005:PD>
      mister speaker

  <WSC#DGU009:0010:SJ>
      yeah order <drawls>order</drawls>

  <WSC#DGU009:0015:PD>
      mister speaker that was an absolutely despicable address to this
      house by the member for fendalton <,>

  <WSC#DGU009:0020:PD>
      and <loudly>when he was making those charges i was strongly
      reminded of the unctuous claims from the leader of the
      opposition that his party stands for the decent society <,>

  <WSC#DGU009:0025:PD>
      a society that respects the rule of law and what they do sir is
      they wander into this house not just today but on previous
      occasions cast a whole series of charges about idly and then
      expect sir that they should be taken seriously

  <WSC#DGU009:0030:PD>
      now sir lets listen to what that member had to <{><[>say</loudly></[>

  <WSC#DGU009:0035:SJ>
      <[>order</[></{>

  <WSC#DGU009:0040:PD>
      <loudly>there was no substance in any of the <&>17:00</&>
      charges</loudly> <,> that he made

  <WSC#DGU009:0045:SJ>
      <.>i</.> i think <.>tha</.> <.>th</.> that you know there's er
      all together too much interjection from this corner

  <WSC#DGU009:0050:SJ>
      here i mean the <.>m</.> the <.>m</.> the minister <,>

  <WSC#DGU009:0055:SJ>
      order

  <WSC#DGU009:0060:SJ>
      no no there's actually members out of their seats too <,> and
      <.>sh</.>

  <WSC#DGU009:0065:SJ>
      <loudly>order</loudly> <,> members out of their seats and
      shouting at the top of their voices it's not seemly behaviour

  <WSC#DGU009:0070:SJ>
      <.>me</.> members should come to order mister peter dunne

  <WSC#DGU009:0075:PD>
      mister speaker <,> the member for fendalton <,> made a series of
      charges all very carefully prefaced with phrases like <,>
      <quotes>appear to be fraudulent <,> allegedly <,> under
      investigation <,> under suspicion</quotes>

  <WSC#DGU009:0080:PD>
      mister speaker he put no proof <,> before this house <,> of
      <loudly>any of the charges that he's made

  <WSC#DGU009:0085:PD>
      and i want to challenge him <,> to make exactly the same speech
      <,> with ALL of the same words <,> outside this chamber or to
      present the evidence that he has <,> to the relevant authorities
      <,> for <&>18:00</&> their investigation</loudly>

  <WSC#DGU009:0090:PD>
      because mister speaker if the member for fendalton <,> and his
      party expect to be taken seriously as a party that is committed
      to law and order as a party <,> that is committed <loudly>to the
      decent society that the leader of the opposition rants about</loudly>
      then sir they will put up the proof

  <WSC#DGU009:0095:PD>
      they will NOT do the sort of thing that THAT member makes a
      habit of doing

  <WSC#DGU009:0100:PD>
      mister speaker this house ought to be reminded <,> that it's
      only a couple of years ago <,> that the member for fendalton was
      on another witch hunt <,>

  <WSC#DGU009:0105:PD>
      this time it was the department of trade and industry

  <WSC#DGU009:0110:PD>
      following the fact that a couple of members of the staff at that
      time <,> had been charged with various offences HE launched into
      a tirade that the whole department was corrupt that the whole
      import licensing system was being ripped off by departmental
      officials

  <WSC#DGU009:0115:PD>
      and day after day in this house sir we had questions of
      unsubstantiated allegations from that member <,> and the
      <loudly>proof was never provided <&>19:00</&> because there was
      no proof</loudly>

  <WSC#DGU009:0120:PD>
      now mister speaker <loudly>that is the national party the party
      of the DEcent society the party that's committed to law and
      order</loudly> and the reality is sir that they have NO
      credibility in that area and their desperation this afternoon
      demonstrates that rather than get involved in a policy debate
      all the national party is interested in is FIring around smears
      and charges

  <WSC#DGU009:0125:PD>
      now mister speaker i want to put this proposition to the
      national party

  <WSC#DGU009:0130:PD>
      if there is any substance in the allegation <,> that this
      government <,> has corruption <,> in the immigration system <,>
      why is it that the one official brought to charge <?>today</?>
      is a prominent member of the governing party <,>

  <WSC#DGU009:0135:PD>
      if this party had anything to cover up <,> he would've been the
      last person <,> to be brought to charge <,>

  <WSC#DGU009:0140:PD>
      we have nothing to hide sir that is why we follow the rule of
      law and i suggest the national party start to do likewise
      <&>20:01</&>
