Order Form for the PPCME2 and PPCEME

To obtain a five-user or unlimited departmental site license for the PPCME2 and the PPCEME, please read the User Agreement below. Then print out this page, sign the agreement, and complete the order form. Mail the agreement and order form with payment to the address at the bottom of the page. If you want to fax the order form and agreement, you may request a fax number from kroch@change.ling.upenn.edu. If you pay with a US dollar denominated check drawn on a US bank, there is no handling fee. If you pay by wire transfer or credit card, you must pay the total, including the indicated fees. All funds received from the sale of corpus licenses are used to improve the corpora and to add to them, supplementing funds received from other sources, principally research grants. Our current corpus project is the creation of a three million word parsed corpus of Modern British English from 1700 to 1914, the "Penn Parsed Corpus of Modern British English." When completed, in two to three years, it will be made available at modest cost to all current license holders.

The conditions of use of the PPCME2 and the PPCEME derive from the conditions under which the Helsinki corpus is distributed. Any user who is not prepared to meet these conditions must refrain from purchasing or using the corpora.

Penn-Helsinki Corpus User Agreement

I,                                                                      , hereby request a copy of the Penn-Helsinki Parsed Corpus of Middle English, Second Edition (PPCME2) and the Penn-Helsinki Parsed Corpus of Early Modern English (PPCEME). I agree by this request to adhere to the following conditions of use by myself and to require adherence by all others to whom I grant access to the corpus:
  1. I acknowledge that the PPCME2, the PPCEME and the Helsinki Corpus of Historical English are subject to copyright restrictions. I agree to abide by them and I acknowledge that violations of copyright restrictions may result in legal liability.
  2. I will make no commercial use of the PPCME2, the PPCEME, or the Helsinki Corpus without prior permission.
  3. I will not redistribute the PPCME2, the PPCEME, or the Helsinki Corpus to others except in limited passages under the ordinary standards of scholarly citation.
  4. I will acknowledge the PPCME2, the PPCEME, and the Helsinki Corpus in any written work or oral presentations based on research using these materials.
  5. I acknowledge that the distributor of the PPCME2 and the PPCEME makes no warranties, express or implied, concerning the PPCME2 or the PPCEME, including but not limited to their ownership, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. The distributor shall not be liable for any direct, consequential, punitive, or other damages suffered by user or any other person resulting from the use of the distributed materials.

Penn Corpus Order Form

The cost of an unlimited departmental or library site license for the PPCME2/PPCEME corpus CD is $500. The cost of a five user site license is $300. Current license holders for the PPCME2 may upgrade to a five-user license for both corpora for $50. We thank these license holders for their support of our corpus construction efforts. Please note the handling fees, which are additional to the basic cost of the corpora. Purchasers who pay by a check drawn on a U.S. bank are not required to pay the handling fee.
