The subdirectories herein provide the wherewithal for printing and displaying the data files of ECI/MCI, i.e. files using the ISO-LATIN 1, 5 and 7 encodings. Note we have been unable to provide or construct support for ISO-LATIN 2, which is used by the Czech data. The support for Latin 5 and 7 for printing is less than ideal. Since it is based on the Public Domain Hershey fonts, which are PostScript Type 3 fonts, printing on anything other than a large memory fast printer is quite slow. As and when we find or construct Type 1 fonts we will make them available. The UN*X script bin/unix/isoscrpt (q.v.) is the way in to printing. The support for display is for use under X windows -- see lib/fonts/X11/README for more information.
